Each panel is prefabricated to cover the entire width of the roof, and has its outer edges fixed to the side frame supports of the roof. The panels are also glued to the frame cross members which serve to join the panels. The panels have inner- and outer skins, shaped to fit the vehicle, and with the space filled with an insulating foam. Support strips inside the panel provide support for attachments e.g. roof hanging straps for busses.
