<p>The frequency of a timing signal generated by a timing source apparatus (102) for battery-operated, clock-driven electronic devices (105) is reduced in a predetermined manner as the battery (101) voltage decreases. The timing source is electrically connected to the internal clock of the device to dictate the speed of that clock. As the frequency of the timing source (102) is decreased in response to lower battery voltage, the internal clock speed of the device is proportionately reduced, causing reduced power consumption and prolongation of the life or charge cycle of the battery (101). <IMAGE></p> |
