The method involves using a number of capacitors (222) which form part of a detector mosaic array. Integration capacitors are connected to a read circuit. Each capacitor has a number of controllable switches (231-234) associated with it. The switches successively connect the capacitor to each of the detectors in the module area in turn. The switches enable the detection signal to be read and are controlled by a read mechanism (226).
