PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely produce an opened cyclopropane ring compound in a high yield and good operability by reacting a specific compound having cyclopropane ring with formic acid or its salt in the presence of a catalyst. SOLUTION: The objective opened cyclopropane ring compound of formula II is produced by reacting (A) a compound having cyclopropane ring and expressed by formula I (A is CH2 or are each H, Cl, Br or I; R<1> and R<2> are each H, a 1-6C alkyl or a 1-7C acyl; R<1> and R<2> are not 1-7C acyl at the same time) with (B) formic acid or a formic acid salt (preferably sodium formate, potassium formate or ammonium formate) in the presence of (C) a catalyst (preferably Pd, Pt, Ni or their compounds) under normal pressure. The amount of the component C is preferably >=10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A. The amount of the component B is preferably >=1.5 mol based on 1 mol of the component A. |
