<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which inhibits slime from being generated in an exhaust gas treating tower. SOLUTION: Microwaves are applied from a microwave generator 100 to packings 54 in an exhaust gas treating tower to inhibit the generation of slime so that the temperature of water in the bodies of microorganisms rises, extincting thereby the microorganisms living in the packings. A waveguide 111 is used to uniformly apply microwaves and a metal shield 140 and a rectangular metal pipe 142, being shield members, are provided to prevent microwaves from leaking. The output of microwaves is controlled by a control panel 120.</p> |
