PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink supply controller and a control method in which the color can be matched between a color sample (proof sheet or temporary proof sheet) and a color at running on over all light sources and fields of view, and ink supply can be controlled accurately regardless of fluctuation in the dot gain or the rate of ink adhesion area due to doubling. SOLUTION: Spectral reflectance is measured in the visible light region for each of a plurality of color chips 5 on a sheet printed by a multicolor printer and a data for controlling ink supply is operated based on the spectral reflectance and a predetermined target spectral reflectance. In such an ink supply control method for printer, the spectral reflectance measured for each color chip 5 is compared with the target spectral reflectance and a quantity of ink increasing/decreasing signal is operated such that the difference is minimized. An ink supply unit 2 is then controlled based on a quantity of ink increasing/decreasing signal 21 thus operated. |
