The actuator has an actuator arm (30) adapted to be rotatably mounted in a magnetic disc drive, a suspension (34) attached at its base to the front of the actuator arm, a head slide part (32) attached to the front of the suspension and with a magneto-resistive element, a first pair of leads formed on the suspension and connected to the magneto-resistive element, a short circuit pattern, a flexible printed main circuit (42), a flexible printed connection circuit (50) and several earth leads. The main circuit is attached to the actuator arm and contains a read/write circuit. The connection circuit is mounted on the actuator arm and contains further leads connecting the first leads to the read/write circuit. The earth leads connect the further leads to the actuator arm. An Independent claim is also included for a method of producing an actuator.
