PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recognition device capable of comparatively easily changing reference data registered in a dictionary and realizing accurate recognition over a long term. SOLUTION: Plural dictionaries 30a to 30d to store reference data for recognizing a specified image area are mounted in the cartridges for respective colors 20a to 20d of a toner cartridge exchangeably attached to an image forming device main body 10. The reference data stored in the dictionary is transmitted to a processing part in a printer controller part 25 through an I/F part 32 so as to recognize whether or not the image of a processed object is a specified image. Every time the toner cartridge is exchanged, the dictionary is updated and exchanged to a new one.
