FIELD: tobacco industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves exposing tobacco to reduced pressure not exceeding 7 kPa; impregnating tobacco cellular structure with isopentane vapors at temperatures of 70-90 C; maintaining tobacco in contact with isopentane vapors under pressure of at least 400 kPa for 30 min; removing excessive amount of isopentane vapors at adiabatic character of pressure changing; treating impregnated tobacco with steam for expanding tobacco cellular structure; subjecting expanded tobacco to vacuum restructuring. Tobacco extension levels obtained by such method approximate that produced by conventional methods or may exceed them.
