The voltage converter has a switching element (12) on the primary side of an inductance (10), and an output capacitance (C0) on the secondary side which can be charged in response to the switched current flowing through a switching element and which has an associated secondary side blocking element (18). The blocking element is a second switching element which is set into the blocking state by a control signal generated by a controller (14, 24, 26, 28) designed to generate the control signal at a predefined time before a conducting state of the primary side switching element.
