In the method to form the structure (10) of the backrest of a vehicle seat, a preheated panel with two skins is pressed in a mould at a pressure of 10-30 bar. The skins are fabrics of glass fibre filaments embedded in a thermoplastic material such as polypropylene to give a material weight of 1700-2200 g/m<2>. The honeycomb core is of a thermoplastic material, in a sandwich structure between the two skins. The backrest structure (10) has a thickness of 21-26 mm.
