INK CARTRIDGE AND INK JET PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge for an ink jet printer wherein the attaching or detaching operation can be facilitated and wasting of ink can be prevented. SOLUTION: The ink cartridge 2 consists of first and second ink cartridges 100 and 200 and is so constituted that they can be separated with each other. The coupling mechanism therefor is constituted of a recessed section 20 which is formed on the top face of the second ink cartridge 200 so as to load the first ink cartridge 100, insertion sections 41 and 42 formed at front edge sections of them and snap-fit sections 31 and 32 formed at both side faces at the rear sections of them. Both of the cartridges 100 and 200 can be readily positioned to be coupled with each other and they can not be shifted nor can be separated with each other when they are operated. When ink is in an out-of-ink condition, only one ink cartridge of which the ink is in the out-of-ink condition has to be replaced so that wasting of ink can be prevented.
