PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly enhance rigidity of a steering column for tilt adjustment or telescopic adjustment. SOLUTION: This device is composed so that a pair of clamp members 12 and 12 is provided in an inner side of a lower side outer column 4 so as to hold an upper side inner column 3 and this pair of clamp members 12 and 12 is moved by a clamping bolt 13 so as to mutually approach for holding and clamping the upper side inner column 3 by this pair of clamp members 12 and 12. Since it is composed so that the upper side inner column 3 is directly clamped by the lower side outer column 4 in such manner, rigidities of both columns 3 and 4 can be enhanced.
