PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently improve the supporting stiffness of a rocker shaft, in an internal combustion engine wherein the rocker shaft rockably bearing a rocker arm following the rotations of a cam shaft is supported in a rocker shaft holder provided with plural shaft supporting portions fastened to plural bearing portions provided on a cylinder head in one or another body so as to rotatably bear the cam shaft, and a coupling portion integrally coupling the shaft supporting portions. SOLUTION: The rocker shaft 37 is supported by each of shaft supporting portions 44a, and supported by a shaft middle supporting portion 44c disposed between the plural shaft supporting portions 44a and provided integrally with the coupling portion 44b.
