PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical organic EL element in which the luminous intensity is not deteriorated by the drive for a long time and which has a superior durability. SOLUTION: This organic EL element in which the mass spectrometry spectrum of at least one layer of the organic compound layers having an organic luminous layer provided between a positive electrode and a negative electrode satisfies the relations of formula (I), wherein IM is the strength of the main peak and ISn is the strength of the 'n'th peak out of each sub-peak.
