PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing crosslinked residue of a crosslinked polyolefin insulating cable, which can diffuse in a short time the dissolved residue of a crosslinking agent existing in an inner layer of an insulating coating of the crosslinked polyolefin insulating cable. SOLUTION: A cable 4 wound around a cable drum 7 is stored within a container 3, and the start terminal 5 of the cable 4 is connected to the end terminal 6 of the cable 4 with a conductor 8 to form a closed loop. By passing a desired electric current to the cable 4 through the conductor 8 to generate joule heat to the conductors 51, 61 and simultaneously reducing the pressure in the container 3, crosslinked residue in the insulation of the cable 4 can be removed.
