PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of effectively canceling agglomeration of particles without reducing the life of the particles. SOLUTION: An image display medium 15 is provided with a display substrate 36 and a rear substrate 38 and a plurality of line-shaped column electrodes 40 and row electrodes 42 are provided on their surfaces opposed to each other so as to orthogonal to and opposed to each other. Insulating layers 44 and 46 are formed on the column electrode 40 side of the display substrate 36 and on the row electrode 42 side of the rear substrate 38, respectively. Positively charged black particles 48 and negatively charged white particles 50 are encapsulated between the display substrate 36 and the rear substrate 38. A vibrating unit 30 consisting of an eccentric cam 62, a motor 64 and a motor driving circuit 66 is attached to the image display medium 15. The eccentric cam 62 is rotatively driven by the motor 64 to deliver vibration to the image display medium 15 and agglomerated particles are released. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
