PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object state determining system capable of accurately determining state of an object by precisely detecting relative approach/retreat between a prescribed position and the object using a Doppler sensor. SOLUTION: The object state determining system comprises a local oscillator 11c comprising VCO for outputting oscillation waves of different frequencies, a Doppler sensor 11 comprising a mixer 11b which mixes the oscillation waves with reflected wave to output mixed signals M1 and M2, an action analyzer 12 which analyzes approach or retreat of an object based on a plurality of mixed signals, a Doppler wave cycle detector 13 for detecting occurrence of Doppler waves based on the M2 signal, a Doppler wave cycle counter 14 which counts occurrence cycle of Doppler waves from the output of the Doppler wave cycle detecting means and that of the action analyzer, and a state determining/controlling part 15 for determining state (presence, retreatment, or the like) of an object based on changing condition of the count value at the Doppler wave cycle counter.
