PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly and accurately quantifying the concentration of permanganic acid in a hexavalent chromium containing solution by inexpensive equipment without receiving the effect of hexavalent chromium. SOLUTION: In the method for quantifying the concentration of permanganic acid in a hexavalent chromium-containing solution, absorbance in a wavelength range of 540-700 nm is measured and the concentration of permanganic acid is calculated from a preliminarily formed calibration curve. Further, a barium compound such as barium chloride, barium hydroxide or the like is added to the hexavalent chromium-containing solution as a solid or an aqueous solution and, after a sediment of formed barium chromate is subjected to solid-liquid separation, the absorbancy of permanganic acid in the obtained solution is measured and the concentration thereof is calculated from the preliminarily formed calibration curve.
