PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing method of a glass panel assembly and a furnace for sealing treatment wherein by means of temperature control and pressure control in combination with this at a stage of sealing treatment, impurity gas or the like is removed appropriately, and an amount of impurity gas or the like remaining in the glass panel assembly after the sealing treatment is reduced. SOLUTION: When the glass panel assembly, in which a seal frit is interposed between a pair of glass substrates that are superposed on each other is sealing-treated by means of making the seal frit melted, the inside atmosphere is forcibly fluidized, and by the inside atmosphere, the glass panel assembly is heated to a preliminary heating temperature T1 which is near the critical temperature of melting point of the seal frit, and is then depressurized (P1) in a state where the preliminary heating temperature is maintained, and afterwards, the inside atmosphere is forcibly fluidized, and by this fluidized inside atmosphere, the glass panel assembly is heated to a sealing treatment temperature T2, then the inside atmosphere is forcibly fluidized, and by this inside atmosphere, the glass panel assembly is cooled down.
