PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data transfer system capable of receiving image data without knowing the e-mail address while eliminating a possibility that stored image data can be taken out by anyone. SOLUTION: As shown in the figure, when a user receives image data from IFAX machine 1 at IFAX machine 2, the e-mail address and keyword of a destination are inputted at the input section 24 of the IFAX machine 2. An e-mail preparation section 25 prepares a request e-mail based on the E-mail address of the destination and the E-mail address and the keyword of its own device, and transmits the request e-mail to an e-mail server 3 through a communication control section 21. The IFAX machine 2 checks the E-mail by connecting with the e-mail server 3 periodically through the communication control section 21.
