PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a burden from being imposed on the cervical vertebrae of an occupant satisfactorily in advance by providing an air bag at a seat back fitted with a head rest. SOLUTION: A predictive sensor predicts a rear-end collision, and a control means expands an air bag 13 around a neck part of an occupant A when the predictive sensor predicts the rear-end collision. Since this air bag 13 is provided at a seat back, the expanding direction of the air bag 13 can be set most appropriately to prevent a burden imposed on the cervical vertebrae of the occupant A satisfactorily in advance. Also in the case of expanding the air bag 13 around the neck part of the occupant A upward from below, the expanding direction of the air bag 13 can be set most appropriately to prevent a burden imposed on the cervical vertebrae of the occupant satisfactorily in advance. Furthermore, even when a head rest 3 moves vertically to the seat back 2, the same effect can be obtained since an air bag device 11 exists in a low position. |
