摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent acicular metal lithium from precipitating on the surface of the negative electrode, and to heighten electrochemical activity to enlarge capacity. SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is composed of a positive electrode 8 having a lithium compound as an active material, a nonaqueous electrolyte, and a negative electrode 9 having bond of silicon with nitrogen which lithium can be electrochemically inserted into and removed from, and having a silicon nitride compound as an active material containing carbon formed by pyrolytically decomposing silazane compounds belonging to inorganic macromolecule at 500-700 deg.C. This constitution heightens electrochemical activity in the negative electrode 9 to enlarge capacity, thus prevents the precipitation of acicular metal lithium on the surface of the negative electrode 9.
