A loess revetment block and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve strength and durability of loess revetment block, to make planting easier in the block, to decelerate flowing rate of watercourse where the block is installed and to reduce harmful waste from the block at disposal or at loss by a flood by employing wire netting, planting hole and loess in the preparation of revetment block. A loess revetment block(100) has planting holes(110), flow retardation prominences(115) and a wire netting(140), and the loess revetment blocks(100) are optionally connected by combination of connection grooves(120) with connection blocks(130). A manufacturing method of the loess revetment block comprises steps of: drying loess until a water content of the loess becomes 10-15%; grinding the dried loess until the particle size becomes 0.5-4mm; adding alkaline reinforcing agent, acidic additive, natural resin and water to the ground loess to obtain a loess mixture; forming the loess mixture in a mold for revetment block in order to have planting hole in the center and flow retardation prominence, concurrently with attaching wire netting beneath the block; optionally preparing connection blocks while forming connection grooves in the sides of the revetment block; and drying all the prepared loess blocks at 12-18deg.C for 20-40 days. The loess mixture comprises 60-80 parts by weight of loess, 5-20 parts by weight of alkaline reinforcing agent, 2.5-8 parts by weight of acidic additive and 1-6 parts by weight of natural resin. The alkaline reinforcing agent comprises at least one selected from limestone, gypsum and white cement. The acidic additive comprises at least one selected from sulfonic acid and citric acid. The natural resin comprises at least one selected from gamboge extracted from plants of Staphyleaceae, latex and water-soluble Balsam resin.
