PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the coder for a stereoscopic moving image by which error propagation of entire frames is reduced by suppressing temporal image quality fluctuation. SOLUTION: Areas N, N' without non-application of motion compensation are assigned to each of consecutive frames at a rate of a prescribed area in basic and extended channels and the assigned position of the areas is moved to an adjacent area for each frame at a time (t)=1,2,3,.... As a result, a motion compensation non-application area with a prescribed area is in existence in each frame at all times, the image quality between the frames is averaged to reduce a difference from the image quality and the recovery from an error caused by a temporary channel fault or the like is attained stepwise from a frame just after the reception of the error. |
