<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a backlight of a liquid crystal display, capable of enhancing the fixing strength of a light guide and enhancing the utilization factor of light. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit of the liquid crystal display that irradiates an illumination light from the rear face of a liquid crystal panel is provided with a substrate 1, light source parts 2 arranged on the substrate 1 and driven individually for each divided area divided into a plurality of areas; a diffusion sheet part 3 arranged at a light-irradiating side of the light source part 2, and light guides 4 to be light-splitting reflecting walls fixed and erected on the substrate 1 so as to be positioned at each boundary part of the plurality of areas. The light guides 4 have their tip parts fixed engaged in groove parts 31, formed at a lower part of the diffusion sheet part 3, and the diffusion sheet part 3 is provided with a polarization reflection diffusion sheet 3D to make the polarization direction a single direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
