PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispenser for controlling a photochromic optical key.SOLUTION: A separable and replaceable keying component which is necessary for operation of a certain mechanism 48 includes a waveguide having a photochromic section. In a method of controlling the operation of the certain mechanism having the separable component, preferably, the dispenser, electromagnetic radiation passing through the waveguide mounted at least partially on the separable component is measured, and the mechanism 48 is operated only when the measured electromagnetic radiation agrees with one or more parameters selected in advance.
