Folding press for moulding sheet metal into profiles. To obtain convex downward and concave upward arching of the pressure beam above and below a horizontal zero line (1), the beam is subjected to tensile forces at a distance from (1) and parallel to the longitudinal beam axis. The beam is continuously heated above (1) to obtain concave, and cooled below (1) to obtain convex arching. The heating and cooling process is carried out periodically to assist adjusting of the beam arch by changing the free length of the drawbar or tube which can be adjusted by screws and nuts to a certain length. The nuts are motor-driven via screw devices and movable on helical grooves of the drawbars. Pressure and tensile forces are exerted on the latter by means of pressure cylinders. The tension of the drawbars is controlled by pressure transmission device connected to a hydraulic press.
