On the other hand, an optical signal is converted into an electric signal, a clock frequency component is extracted, the ratio (Pc/Pa) of a clock frequency component power Pc to the total power Pa of the electric signal is obtained, and the excitation light or the excitation current to be injected into the light amplifier medium 10 is controlled so that the Pc/Pa becomes maximum.
