1530211 Band clamps A & W SCHOBEL OHG 29 Jan 1976 [8 Feb 1.975] 03575/76 Heading E2B A band clamp comprises a channel-shaped band 10 with a tongue 18 at one end and a head 16 at the other. The head 16 is composed of side walls 30, 32 joined by webs 34, 36 to define a channel 40 into which the tongue 18 is inserted. Teeth 42, 44 are provided on side walls 30, 32 to engage teeth 22 on tongue 18. The head 16 is so constructed that webs 34 lie directly opposite the spaces between webs 36 and vice versa with no overlap (see Fig. 2). Tongue 18 is provided with a reinforcing strip 20 bearing saw-teeth 24. In order to accommodate this, the webs 36 are bent into a step formation (Fig. 5) so that aperture 40 has a deeper portion 41 of a size corresponding to the reinforced edge and bearing teeth 46 to engage teeth 24. The thickness of the tongue 18 increases from the reinforced to the unreinforced edge and aperture 40 is correspondingly shaped. The tongue 18 is joined to the band 10 by a collar 26 and a reinforcing web 28, diminishing in width towards the centre of the band is provided. Similarly, strengthening heads 48 are provided on the head and web 50 runs from the innermost of these towards the tongue, diminishing likewise in width. Lug 52 with head 54 is formed on this web 50, and teeth 56 are formed on the rib 14 of the channel, directly opposite this lug. The position of this lug 52 is such that it can engage the reinforcing strip 20 of that part of the tongue 18 which has been, in use, passed through the head 18 with teeth 56 engaging teeth 24. To assist in release of the fastened clamp, webs 34 are weakened at 60 so that the tongue may if desired be torn out of the head. |
