<p>The hollow end bolt for a large chain uses a lengthways slotted tube with a cone inside both ends in which at either end an outer-threaded cone (2) is fitted. As this latter cone is screwed in with the aid of an appropriate tool, the outer dia. of the tube enlarges, causing it to draw firmly into the chain component. The inner cone has a ring (4) which projects inwards, and this prevents the outer threaded cone, once inserted, from becoming detached. The lengthways slot in the tube, up to a central opening, is closed by sealing wax (5) so that the hollow space (6) inside can be filled with oil for lubrication of a bush fitted around the bolt.</p> |
