The servo steering system has the wheel servos linked to the pressure control valve by a simple non return valve (12) in which the valve element (10) is a hollow sleeve containing a relief valve (15) operating in the reverse direction. This serves to even out any road vibrations. Any sudden hydraulic pressure peaks from the wheel servos are transmitted to the pressure control valve (2) by the relief valve and are dissipated without affecting the feedback force on the steering wheel.
