The height control for a car seat headrest has the headrest fitted to support shafts (4) sliding inside fixed hollow frames (3) of the seat structure. The supports are friction held by a flat spring (12) inside each hollow section, with the bottom end of each spring bent into a retaining ratchet (7) to grip a grooved end (6) in the support. The height is easily adjusted without any danger of pulling the supports right out of the seat support frame. The flat spring is looped through two slots in the hollow frame and the ratchet end passes out of a third slot.
