PURPOSE:To clean the surface of a cladding metal by the rise of an inert gas and to prevent scum intrusion by positioning the slab or thick plate of the cladding metal into a casting mold and casting a molten steel which is a base metal into the mold while blowing the inert gas to the lower part of the cladding metal. CONSTITUTION:The cladding metal 5 is suspended by a lifting hook 7 into the casting mold 1 in the case of producing a three-layered clad cast ingot. The molten steel 6 is then cast into the mold while the inert gas is blown to the lower position of the cladding metal 5 through a blow pipe 8 embedded into the brick of the flow-off port of a bottom pouring molding board 2. A pair of the cladding metals 5, 5 is connected by an upper backing plate 9 and a lower backing plate 10 and is suspended into the mold 1, then the molten steel 6 is cast to the one side face of each material 5 in the case of producing a two-layered clad steel ingot. The inert gas is blown through the blow pipe 8 which is conducted through the space between the metals 5 and 5 from above the mold 1 to the lower backing plate 10 and is opened to the lower position of each metal 5. |
