PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of smoke and improve fuel consumption, by actuating an accumulator plunger so as to control a capacity of the second accumulator chamber and increase an injection pressure in each injection quantity. CONSTITUTION:If the pressure in the first accumulator chamber 14 rises when a pump is driven in a forced feed stroke, the pressure in the second accumulator chamber 15 also rises, and an accumulator plunger 12 moves upward standing still. If the forced feed stroke is finished, injection of fuel is started by moving a check valve 11 upward to be opened so as to move a needle valve 10 upward. And the fuel pressure in the first and the second accumulator chambers 14, 15 decreases in accordance with the injection of fuel, thus the accumulator plunger 12 in the second accumulator chamber 15 is transferred downward, reducing a capacity of the second accumulator chamber 15 while balancing the accumulated fuel pressure with urging force by a spring 18. |
