<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct an artifact generated by a high attenuation object in a computer tomography(CT) system. SOLUTION: Correction algorithm is used. By the algorithm of one form, the high attenuation object is identified in image data by using a CT number from the image data. By using the image data segmented for respective high attenuation materials, different component images are prepared for the respective materials. Then, component image data for the respective materials are separately projected forward and projection data are prepared for the respective materials. Then, the projection data for the respective materials are adjusted for the attenuation characteristics of the materials, and projection error data for the respective materials are prepared. Then, the obtained projection error data are filter-processed and inversely projected and the image data of only errors are prepared. Then, the image data of only the errors are scaled and combined with source image data and the high attenuation object artifact is removed.</p> |
