The drive is for an auxiliary unit associated with a vehicle. It has a control gear (33) with an auxiliary shaft connectable to the rotary drive element (4) of an external drive mechanism (36). The drive mechanism is positioned externally to the side profile of the vehicle (32) and on its upper side is connected to the frame whilst its lower side is supported by a spacing bracket (40) connected to the control gear. USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact and space saving transmission system for a vehicle the engine of which drives an auxiliary unit such as a pump or a generator.
