Apparatus for the automatic cleaning of facade areas, in particular window and wall areas on a building

On high buildings, the window and wall areas are cleaned, personnel-intensively, from a working cage which is lowered by a framework which is mounted at the top of the building and is movable. The new apparatus is to enable quicker and less personnel-intensive cleaning of the facade areas of the building. A cleaning unit (11; 21; 31), which is positioned and performs cleaning operations automatically, is in each case movably mounted on a rail (12; 22; 32) which for its part is in each case movably mounted on a rail (13, 14; 23, 24; 33, 34). The cleaning unit is automatically positioned in program-controlled fashion and automatically performs cleaning and drying operations in program-controlled fashion. The apparatus enables very quick, automatic cleaning of facade areas, the cleaning of wall and window areas being able to be carried out in a single operation.
