The i.c engine fuel injector (9) pump combination comprises a cylinder (2) with actuated piston (3) and pump chamber (6) connecting to the injector via an orifice (16). A seat (17) for a spring-loaded closure member (21) is sealingly slidable in a bore (20) and has a conical collar (23) below its seating face in a chamber (18) at the upper end of the bore. The stroke of the member is limited by a stop (49) and the pump chamber is connected to a relief duct (36) by a control element, at least from the end of the effective pump stroke. The spring chamber (44) in the closure member is continuously connected to a relief chamber (14) via an opening (30) with a similar opening in the injector needle closure spring disc (29) and duct (41).
