A cable transport interrupt arrangement for an automatic cable labelling arrangement has a transport mechanism with two opposed transport elements between which the cable is conveyed axially and a deflection roller mounted movably transversely w.r.t. its rotation axis. When a defined strain in the cable is exceeded the roller is deflected and the cable transport interrupted. At least one transport element (6) is mounted on a frame (13) adjustable transversely w.r.t. the cable's longitudinal axis. The deflection roller (33) is connected to the adjuster (18) to release the cable (3) when the threshold strain is exceeded. ADVANTAGE - Occupies little space and requires no conventional cable storage device.
