Cu alloy used to produce concasting moulds contains 0.01-0.15% B; 0.01-0.2% Mg; balance Cu and usual production impurities. The alloy pref. contains 0.01-0.05% B; 0.05-1.15% Mg and may also contain up to 0.6% of at least one from 0-0.05 Si; 0-0.5% Ni; 0-0.3% Fe; 0-0.3% Ti; 0-0.2% Zr, 0-0.04% P, esp. 0.02-0.04% Si and/or 0.1-0.5% Ni to reduce the electrical conductivity without altering hardness, recrystallisation temperature and creep resistance. To improve strength the alloy is cold deformed by at least 10%. The alloy is pref. hot formed then at least 10% cold formed, followed by annealing at 300-550 deg.C for at least 15 mins. and finally cold forming by at least 10%. The alloy can be further annealed at 200-450 deg. followed by a further cold forming of at least 10%.
