Cash register till in the shape of a tray (1) provided with a lid being pivotably connected near the edge of the tray. In said tray there are compartments (8, 9) for receiving coins and banknotes and said till can be locked in a cash register block (20). In said till a money box (10) can be received adapted to the shape of a compartment (9) of the till. Said box comprises a bottom (22), two longitudinal walls (11, 21), one transverse wall (23) and one upper wall (24) which is provided with a slot (25) running parallel to the longitudinal walls and with at least one aperture (26) at a distance from the slot. A pressure plate (27) is biassed from below against the upper wall (24) and can be pushed downwards by means of a finger put into said aperture (26) for pushing downwards a banknote, which is slid into the money box (10) via the slot. In this way, the note can be brought underneath an edge (29, 30) protruding inwards into the money box (10) and running parallel to the slot (25) and can be removed from the money box (10) only through the open end wall after taking the money box out of the till. Means (12-18) are present for locking the money box in the cash register till so that the money box can only be removed from said till after the latter is removed from the cash register block (20). <IMAGE>
