A hypo-cycloidal piston drive (1), esp. for boxer-type piston engines, has an eccentric guide cam (8) rottaionally fixed to an eccentric piston cam (6). Both cams rotate on a crankshaft journal (5). A coupling arm (11), rotatable on the guide cam, is connected to the guide links (12) of a Watt linear drive (9). The Watt linear drive operates at right angles to the oscillating piston motion. ADVANTAGE - A compact assembly with more choice in positioning the guide link supports (16).
