<p>A transmission for providing continuously variable speed and torque comprises a housing (12), an input shaft (18) a system of variable throw eccentrics (22, 24, 26), control means (48) for changing eccentric throw of the variable throw eccentrics (22, 24, 26) connecting links (34, 40) for receiving eccentric throw from the system of variable throw eccentrics (22, 24, 26) and transmitting it as reciprocal motion and removing ripple from the output (20), one-way clutches (38) for receiving reciprocal motion from connecting links (34, 40) and transmitting it as rotational motion, and an output shaft (20). The control means comprise a control shaft (48) rotatably disposed around the input shaft (18) so that both shafts have the same rotational axis and with a fork (50) fixed to the control shaft (48), a pin (52) fixed at one end to an eccentric and engaged between the prongs of the fork (50), and means (60) for rotating the control shaft (48) with respect to the input shaft (18), thus changing the eccentric throw and the transmission ratio. Reversible and nonreversible hydraulic one-way clutches, means for reversing rotation of the output shaft, and means for compression braking are also within the scope of the invention.</p> |
