<p>PURPOSE:To perform processing for adding the flow rates of packets by the destinations without performing the retrieval of an area for writing complicated count values in a memory. CONSTITUTION:The destination information provided for the received packet is registered on an associated storage memory CAM 1, at the same time, a packet passage counter value is recorded in a memory CNM 2, addressing on the memory is made the same as the CAM 1, the CAM 1 is retrieved with the destination information as a tag at the time of packet reception, and the address of a flow rate counter to be accessed is provided. The history of packet reception in the past is recorded in a memory HSM 3 by the destinations, the addressing on the memory is made the same as the CAM 1, the CAM 1 is retrieved with the destination information as the tag at the time of packet reception, a history table to be accessed is provided, and the history information is wirtten. The HSM 3 is successively looked in independently of processing at the time of packet reception, and the packet of the detsination not to be received for a fixed period is detected and erased from the CAM 1.</p> |
