PURPOSE: To obtain a large capacity, low cost and lightweight hollow fiber separation membrane having bundles of hollow fiber membranes with tube sheets at each end enclosed by end caps, covered and tightly closed by a housing made from an impermeable material. CONSTITUTION: This device comprises bundles of hollow fiber membranes 10, tube sheets 12, 14 at both ends of the bundles and cap ends 18, 20 enclosing the both further ends of the bundles, and the bundles of the membranes 10 between the end caps 18, 20 are covered with the housing 46 made from a flexible and non-rigid material impermeable to a fluid to be treated. The housing 46 is tightly coupled with the end caps 18, 20 or the tube sheets 12, 14 through O-rings 48, 50, etc., so that it holds and supports the bundles of the membranes 10 and protects the bundles between the end caps 18, 20 to feed-out the permeated fluid to the outlet.
