PURPOSE:To quicken processing by preparing a notation list obtained by successively comparing a reading within an obtained block and a given reading, stopping comparison when the comparing result meets a prescribed condition and outputting the notation based on the prepared list so as to efficiently output a candidate obtained by conversion such as KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion, etc. CONSTITUTION:CPU 1 receiving a character string inputted from a keyboard 3 refers to an auxiliary memory 5 storing a dictionary, in accordance with a program within a main memory 2 and outputs the character string of a conversion result corresponding to the inputted character string to a display 4. Then, when a reading to KANA/KANJI-convert is inputted, this method decides the position of the reading block based on the top character of the reading, successively compares the reading within the decided block and the given reading and prepares the list capable of notation based on grammar information. Then, when the comparing result meets the prescribed condition, the method stops the comparing processing after this and outputs the notation in accordance with the prepared list. |
