Continuous paper feed for electrophotographic printer

The feed mechanism (100) holds the paper between rollers and moves it by friction. It can therefore be used whether or not the paper has a perforated edge. The system includes linear sensors (43, 44) which monitor the edge of the paper. They emit a signal to an electronic control operating a corrector unit (37-56). It adjusts the feed by oblique compensation, if necessary, to provide accurate presentation of the paper to the carrying section (412, 502, 504) where it meets the printing drum (402). Two edge-rollers (506) at each side of the paper maintain its exact position on the bearing roller (508) during and after printing. Precise and reliable registration of the print on the paper is thus ensured.
