The device has a transportation belt (4) which circulates around a body (3), which has suction openings which are acted upon by a vacuum system. The latter is integrated into vacuum-magnet systems which are arranged in the body one behind the other in the direction of transport, and which have at least one magnet (5) adjacent to the belt, and a vacuum channel (6) which is connected to a vacuum source. The channel is connected to the openings via pipes (7) which penetrate through the magnets. Each magnet has strips (8) to guide the belt, which is in the form of at least one toothed belt with ferromagnetic inserts (4a). The strips have at least one suction channel (11) which is connected to the pipes and whose underside is covered by the region of the belt which has the openings.
