PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to generate a laser beam having high output and quality, by providing an exciting light source for generating a light having the wavelength not coincident with the peak wavelength of an absorption spectrum in the wavelength in the range of the absorption spectrum of solid state laser medium. SOLUTION: A cooling medium circulating unit 23 controls the temperature of cooling medium 24, so that the peak wavelength of the exciting light 9 generated from the light emitting unit 13 of a semiconductor laser array 12 does not coincide with the peak wavelength of the absorption spectrum of solid state laser medium 5A in a range of absorption spectrum of the solid state laser medium 5A containing active solid state laser medium to control the temperature of a cooling plate 7A and feeds the medium 24 into a flow tube 14, via a supporting mechanism 15. The medium 5A is excited from the side by the light 9 to become laser amplifying medium. Of the exciting light absorbed to the medium 5A, the components which did not become the beam becomes heat, and the solid state laser medium 5A heated by this heat is cooled by the medium 24. |
